In examining transportation projects, safety must be the primary concern, especially routes used by emergency vehicles. Additionally, we need to ensure that projects do not create more cut-through traffic or funnel users into unsafe intersections.

We need a Citywide Master Plan that allows Council, staff and residents to work toward a 21st century transportation network that works for pedestrians, drivers, bicyclists, commuters and students.

In planning projects, community engagement needs to be early, robust and regular. Developing designs without the input of people living and traveling in an area ignores our community’s greatest strength: our residents.
