Jimmy Lewis lives and works in Alexandria. Alexandria has been his home for 13 years. While he and his husband live on the West End, he previously lived in North Old Town, South Old Town and the Foxchase Apartments.
He currently chairs the Alexandria Traffic and Parking Board which has broad jurisdiction over transportation, traffic, parking and transit topics within the City. He is the Vice President of the West End Business Association (WEBA) and civic association officer.
Jimmy is a lifelong Democratic activists having held Party positions at the national, state and local level. Most recently, he served as Deputy Vice Chair for West End Precinct Operations of the Alexandria Democratic Committee (ADC.) He is also the former Lyles Crouch Precinct Captain. At the state level, he is the Vice Chair of Communications for the LGBT+ Democrats of Virginia and he served a President of the Virginia Young Democrats during the victorious 2017 statewide campaigns. Nationally, he led issue advocacy efforts for the Young Democrats of America.
From his office in North Old Town, Jimmy provides policy support and expertise to thousands of U.S. and international pharmacists who specialize in the care of older adults and individuals in long-term care settings, such as nursing homes, assisted living communities, group homes, PACE, IDD facilities and correctional facilities. Before undertaking his current role, he served as a senior Congressional staffer to two Members of the Congressional Black Caucus.
He hold a Bachelors in biology and international relations from The College William & Mary and earned a Masters in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.
In 2013, he met Trevor A. Riley, a Richmond-area native and graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU.) They married overlooking Old Town in October of 2021.
