My Vote: Jimmy Lewis

March 24, 2024

Fellow Alexandrians,

As a lifelong Alexandrian and Sheriff for sixteen years, I am writing to express my enthusiastic endorsement of Jimmy Lewis for City Council.

I first met Jimmy when I spoke before the Traffic and Parking Board. Having spoken before many city boards and commissions, I doubted that action would soon follow. I was shocked when he immediately got to work and started working with me to make streets throughout Del Ray safer - something he has done throughout the city.

He doesn't just identify issues; he actively finds solutions by engaging the community in the process. He knows how to initiate meaningful change by bringing people together and advocating for practical solutions that work.

He has consistently proven himself to be a proactive leader, always ready to tackle challenges head-on and work collaboratively with neighbors to find effective solutions.

Beyond traffic and infrastructure, Jimmy has a clear vision for the future of Alexandria that includes addressing our community's real problems: flooding, mental health, crime prevention and affordability.

As a Alexandria law enforcement officer for 43 years, I know how critical public safety is to our neighbors and our city's future. Jimmy shares the commitment and has the professional experience to promote it in Alexandria. He's the son of a firefighter and handled these issues on Capitol Hill.

His track record speaks for itself, and I am confident that he will continue to prioritize the well-being of our community by proactively resolving challenges sooner rather than later.

I wholeheartedly believe that Jimmy Lewis is the right choice for City Council. His passion, integrity, and proven leadership make him the ideal candidate to represent our interests and drive positive change in Alexandria. I urge you to join me in voting for Jimmy Lewis on June 18th or during early vote, which starts May 3rd.

Thank you for your attention and commitment to keeping Alexandria moving forward.

Warm regards,

Sheriff Dana Lawhorne, retired
