Alexandria, VA – This afternoon, James Lewis filed the required petition signatures and additional paperwork to appear on the Democratic primary ballot for Alexandria City Council. The West End homeowner submitted 355 petition signatures, filing fee receipts and declaration of candidacy to officers of the Alexandria Democratic Committee.
“Normally, collecting enough signatures to appear on the ballot is a simple task. But normal is a rarity these days but my team and I worked hard, organized supporters and together, we exceed our goal – collecting more than 350 signatures from voters in all parts of the City.” said James Lewis, candidate for Alexandria City Council and vice chair of the Traffic and Parking Board. “I want to thank all the volunteers who helped us blow our signature collection goal out of the water. I appreciate you dedicating your time and energy to ensuring that my name appears on the ballot - thank you for investing in my message of greater engagement.”
A resident of Alexandria since 2010, James works in North Old Town and lives on the West End. He formerly lived in North and South Old Town and served on the NOTICe board. He is the former president of the Virginia Young Democrats, former senior Congressional staffer and a graduate of the U.S. Army War College (M.S.S. ’20) and College of William and Mary (B.S. ’10).
